Cave diving is becoming an increasingly aspirational and alternative pathway for technical and developing divers who still hold a dream of reaching the places less travelled. Whilst France, Italy, Florida and Mexico are iconic cave diving destinations, for many they are almost considered mainstream. The spirit of adventure in almost all divers will certainly find a home in these traditional cave diving meccas. However, these places are not the only places in the world where incredible caves exist. For a select few pioneers and explorers Greece has been a hidden gem.
This project set out to showcase the incredible and breath-taking alternatives that cave diving in Greece can deliver, a herculean task.
The result? An incredible film, highlighting the beauty and unexplored feel of Greek cave diving, even identifying one or two exploration leads.
Produced by award winning professional film makers and photographers, who also actively explore these caves, the film brings home the realism of venturing into these remote, unforgiving, but ultimately rewarding locations.
Project Antillothrix is a multi-organizational partnership formed to conduct biodiversity surveys and excavations of paleontological cave sites in the Dominican Republic. Together, researchers and divers from the City University of New York (CUNY), Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), Museo del Hombre Dominicano (MHD), and the Dominican Republic Speleological Society (DRSS) have documented and collected a trove of vertebrate fossils for study and preservation since the inception of this collaboration in 2011.
